Now Playing:  Summer Sequel Loans
Car loan refis as low as 3.59% APR.  Movie tickets at closing!

The plot begins like this:  You bought a car, and financed it for what seemed like a good rate at the time.  Here’s the twist:  You still like your car, but you’re wondering if you could now save money with a lower rate on your loan.

If this storyline sounds familiar to you, it’s time to roll out the red carpet treatment for your old car loan.  Bring it to Cowlitz Credit Union, and we’ll reduce your rate to as low as 3.74%.  It’s easy to apply, and chances are we’ll be able to lower your payments or reduce the term of your loan.  When you finance at least $3,000 before September 30, 2010, we’ll even give you a pair of Regal Cinema movie tickets at closing, so you can celebrate your savings by going to the latest blockbuster this weekend.

Call us today for your summer sequel loan.  This is one sequel guaranteed to be better than the original!

Sixth Annual “Franks for Your Membership” Barbeque

We, the staff and board of Cowlitz Credit Union, feel very lucky to have such wonderful member/owners.   And what better way to celebrate our good luck than with a barbeque on Friday the 13th?  Join us for our 6th annual “Franks for Your Membership” barbeque Friday, August 13, 11am-3pm at Cowlitz Credit Union.  CCU staff and board members will be serving up hot dogs and soft drinks.  We hope to see you!

0% Teacher Loans
If you’re a teacher looking ahead to decorating your classroom for the new school year, we feel your pain.  It’s estimated that teachers spend an average of $475 of their own money buying classroom supplies each year.  To help our teachers out, we’re offering interest-free loans of up to $500.  You’ll have up to one year to repay with payroll deduction.  It’s our way of saying “thank you” to the teachers of
Cowlitz County.

Crystal Apple Awards
Cowlitz Credit Union is a proud sponsor of the Kelso/Longview Chamber of Commerce’s Crystal Apple Awards for excellent educators in Cowlitz County. Congratulations to the 2010 winners Mary Harding (Lower Columbia College), Cynthia Hanson (St. Helens Elementary) and Greg McCormick (Mark Morris HS). Each received a $200 OfficeMax gift certificate, courtesy of Cowlitz Credit Union. We appreciate all you do for the students and families of Cowlitz County!

Scholarships

Cowlitz Credit Union offers two floating $500 high school scholarships annually to honor two very special people.  The Brenda Godfrey Scholarship was implemented in 1998, honoring a caring, friendly Cowlitz Credit Union employee who lost her life to cancer at a young age.  The Jack Elms Scholarship was created in memory of a longtime Cowlitz Credit Union board member.  Jack was a very dedicated and wonderful person who served on the CCU board of directors for over 20 years and was a longtime Kelso School District employee.  Congratulations to our two very-deserving scholarship recipients!

The Brenda Godfrey Scholarship recipient: Madeline Rooklidge, Wahkiakum High School

The Jack Elms Scholarship recipient:  Haley Bellows, Kalama High School

Backpack Buddies

“Because hunger doesn’t take the weekend off”

For past 3 years, Cowlitz Credit Union’s Backpack Buddies program has provided confidential, nourishing meals to local elementary school students who need them on the weekends and holidays when school is out.  By working with teachers, we ensure meals are distributed directly to the student, eliminating the need for the family to visit a food bank, which they may be unable or unwilling to do.

Cowlitz Credit Union has been instrumental in building sustainable Backpack Buddies programs at Northlake and Kessler elementary schools.  We would like to start the program at a new, as-yet unnamed Cowlitz County school this upcoming school year.  Until the program becomes sustainable, the school will be relying heavily on us to keep the program running for the first part of the year.

You can help by donating child-friendly, non-perishable, individually-wrapped food items at Cowlitz CU.  Ask us for a list of recommended items.  Or, support the program by purchasing See’s candy bars from our tellers.  Together, we can make a difference!
